The Manifesto

We believe gardening is a journey.

Whether it’s your first time wishing on a seed or you’re a seasoned backyard grower, we all start somewhere.

It doesn’t always look pretty in the beginning, but we love celebrating the wins along the way.  Got that seed to sprout?  Yes!  Started your first compost pile?  Excellent!

A Foothill Gardener enjoys the process.

Each season brings new challenges and lessons, many in the form of failures.  We believe what makes good gardeners is a tenacity to adapt, find solutions, and overcome obstacles.  The best never give up.

 A Foothill Gardener keeps trying.

We trust that nature wants to grow and expands its life in the process.  One pumpkin seed creates dozens. Lettuce, if left to flower, can make hundreds more.

While we have a hand in the process, we are mostly observers to the earth's cycles around us.  We learn to work with the resources available to consciously cultivate a sustainable garden that thrives in our local environment.

A Foothill Gardener goes with the flow.

It's more than a name. Being a Foothill Gardener is a mindset,
A way of life.
Are YOU a Foothill Gardener?

Welcome!

I'm Brenda, Founder and Chief Garden Lover.

When I’m not working in my portrait and graphic design business, the garden is usually where you can find me. It’s my escape from the world of screens and tech, where I get to bask in the fresh air and sunshine.

I’m admittedly the weirdo 🤓 that loves seed-saving and knowing the proper names of all my plants.

Over the years, gardening has taught me many lessons that relate not only to my hobby, but to life, personal development, mindset, leadership, entrepreneurship, and business.

Those lessons are the inspiration for my designs.

My hope in sharing my passion is that you’ll be able to celebrate your own love of gardening and together we can share those lessons with the world.

A little bit more...

Based in Northern California, and combining a love for graphics and gardening, my unique gifts are designed to encourage you along your gardening journey.

I enjoy a small-scale family-owned garden focused on growing flowers, herbs, and vegetable varieties that thrive in the forest conditions of the Sierra Nevada foothills.
